What to Expect from Counselling

Soft watercolour of a calm, sunlit room with a comfortable armchair beside a window — a welcoming counselling space.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you are not sure what to expect. It's completely normal to feel a mix of curiosity, hope and uncertainty before a first session.

The first session is usually a chance to talk through what has brought you to counselling and what you may hope to get from it. There is no pressure to have everything worked out before you begin.

As a person-centred counsellor, my role is not to give advice or steer you in a particular direction, but to walk alongside you as you explore what feels important. The pace is always yours.

If you'd like to read more about how I work, you can visit the counselling page, or send a short enquiry through the contact page.
